Davis Pre-Law Society was created by a group of 6 students:
Dominique Kato, Sarah Vawter, Itzelth Gamboa, Elizabeth Cho, Lara Ibrahim, and Awen Li. In the fall of 2019, Dominique Kato came up with the idea of creating a pre-law club on campus that was open to all. After consulting with friends and connecting with people through social media, Kato found a group of 5 others who were just as eager as her to create a brand new club. Through hard work and determination, those 6 students successfully formed a new community for students of all backgrounds who are interested in going to law school.
What we do
Every quarter, the Davis Pre-Law Society (DPLS) hosts General Meetings every other week. These meetings are a way for members to connect with other members while learning more about law schools, the LSAT, law school applications, and more. We have had current law students come in and speak about their law school experiences, overviews on the different LSAT sections, and presentations from admissions staff from various law schools.
Along with general meetings, DPLS hosts Professional Development Events. PD Events aim to better inform our members on the legal field and law school application process. We have had workshops on the different fields of law, practice LSAT sessions, and have even partnered with companies such as LSATMax, Apollo Test Prep, and Write Track Admissions!
DPLS also hosts Social Events so members have an opportunity to bond with one another, creating a welcoming and open community for all. They are a fun, no-pressure way for students to meet new people and to make new friends! Past social events include movie and game nights, pumpkin painting, and trivia competitions, which were great ways for members to interact with each other.
